Work units - Technical unit

The technical unit is responsible for many tasks related to the daily running of the island, from repair and maintenance of buildings to laundry and floor-cleaning.

The cleaning sub-unit runs the laundry and cleans administration and community buildings. The laundry handles some 30 tons of laundry per year, and also ensures that inmates have proper work-clothes that safeguards their health and security.

The technical sub-unit co-operates with Statsbygg to maintain and repair buildings, and also runs the sawmill and a carpentry workshop.
